World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5th, has gained global recognition as a crucial event to raise awareness and drive action for environmental protection.
In 2023, the FCCF (Forest Citizen Conservation Foundation) commemorated World Environment Day at the Christ Africa Church, focusing on the theme of “Beat Plastic Pollution.” emphasizing the need to combat the detrimental effects of plastic on both humans and the environment.
The FCCF team conducted an informative session, targeting over 150 students who attended the event. The session aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of plastic pollution and its impact on ecosystems, wildlife, and human health. Through interactive presentations and discussions, the students were educated on the various ways plastic pollution affects the environment, promoting the use of eco-friendly alternatives and recycling plastic waste.
The students were encouraged to make conscious choices and become agents of change in their daily lives. FCCF team organized a question-and-answer session at the end of the educational program. Students who provided correct answers were gifted with eco-friendly materials such as eco-bags and reusable water bottles.
The distribution of eco-friendly materials served as a tangible reminder of the importance of reducing plastic consumption and embracing sustainable practices. It is crucial to make conscious choices and become agents of change in our daily lives for the environment and for humans
